MOVES #9-#12 –
BALL CONTROL
++++++++++
The
best thing a developing soccer player can do is develop dominant ball skills
needed to master the 1v1 (one verses one) game.
This
means getting thousands of touches on the ball to develop deep comfort and
control with all parts of the body and feet.
This also means mastering specific skills to keep the ball away from an
opponent, move the ball around an opponent, and take the ball away from an
opponent. As a player grows up,
dominant ball skills provide the best foundation for developing dominant
passing skills.
Younger
players can work through each move and skip those which are too difficult. Older players can work through each move and
spend time mastering those which are weak or missing from their game.
Moves #9 - #12
– Ball Control
1ST
TOUCH + Dribbling + Moves + Physicality + Ball
Control = BALL DOMINANCE
Dominate the
ball in tight spaces. There are
many great soccer players – who are fast, have a great shot, or can pass like
no one else on the team – that simply lose it under heavy pressure. The best players, however, are able to work
in tight spaces and not lose possession.
Ball
Control moves give you the ability to manipulate the ball with every part of
your foot – laces, sole, inside and outside foot. Mastery of these techniques will make you a
great ball handler in tight spaces.
Train Ball Control easily at home. These Ball Control
moves can easily be completed in a small space.
Get hundreds of touches on the ball in minutes. Dominant Ball
Control comes from getting thousands of touches on the ball to develop deep
comfort and control with all parts of the body and feet. The moves in this section will get you more
touches on the ball in less time.
Ball
Control is the most under-taught and under-practiced of all the core skills
needed for a developing soccer player. Players
at all levels should work on these skills as often as possible. Practice them over and over until you can
complete them at a high rate of speed.
