U10 YOUTH SOCCER
MOVES #50-#51 – KICKING / PASSING

++++++++++

The best thing a developing soccer player can do is develop dominant ball skills needed to master the 1v1 (one verses one) game.

This means getting thousands of touches on the ball to develop deep comfort and control with all parts of the body and feet.  This also means mastering specific skills to keep the ball away from an opponent, move the ball around an opponent, and take the ball away from an opponent.  As a player grows up, dominant ball skills provide the best foundation for developing dominant passing skills.

Younger players can work through each move and skip those which are too difficult.  Older players can work through each move and spend time mastering those which are weak or missing from their game.

Moves #50 - #51 – Kicking / Passing
Several foundational 1st Touch moves will benefit from mastery of the Outside Foot Ground Kick/Pass.  Proper technique for receiving a soccer ball is very similar to proper technique for kicking a ball.  If you are able to strike a ball correctly using the Outside Foot you will quickly be able to learn the primary 1st Touch techniques utilizing the Outside Foot.

The Outside Foot Ground Kick/Pass should also be mastered because passing is an integral part of the game at this age.  Passing to a teammate with the Outside Foot is faster and often more efficient than using the Inside Foot.  Passing with the Outside Foot also puts you in a better position to sprint around a defender for a return pass than if you used the Inside Foot.

Finally, the Outside Foot Ground Kick/Pass is another great kick to have in your goal scoring toolbox.  The ability to kick a ball with all different parts of the foot is a vital element in becoming skilled at putting the ball into the net.
