Best U7 Youth Soccer Moves | #1 – Kicking/Passing

TOP SOCCER MOVES – RANKED LISTS
U7 YOUTH SOCCER
MOVE #1 – KICKING / PASSING

++++++++++

The best thing a developing soccer player can do is develop dominant ball skills needed to master the 1v1 (one verses one) game.

This means getting thousands of touches on the ball to develop deep comfort and control with all parts of the body and feet.  This also means mastering specific skills to keep the ball away from an opponent, move the ball around an opponent, and take the ball away from an opponent.  As a player grows up, dominant ball skills provide the best foundation for developing dominant passing skills.

Younger players can work through each move and skip those which are too difficult.  Older players can work through each move and spend time mastering those which are weak or missing from their game.

Move #1 – Kicking / Passing
The Inside Foot Ground Kick/Pass is the most basic kick (and easiest to learn) in soccer and should be learned at the earliest age possible.  This is the kick children should be learning instead of kicking the ball with their toe.

Until you are skilled enough to properly execute more complicated kicks/passes (ie. Angle Kick/Pass, Outside Foot Kick/Pass) the inside foot should be used in all situations which call for kicking or passing the ball.  Children as young as three years old can learn this kick.

Mastery of the Inside Foot Ground Pass/Kick is extremely valuable because it provides a foundation for two other sets of moves which will allow you to dominate the 1v1 game – DRIBBLING & 1ST TOUCH.

To be clear – If you do not have a level of mastery over the Inside Foot Ground Pass/Kick it will be extremely difficult (if not impossible) to become skilled in Dribbling or 1st Touch.

Speed Dribbling and Fast Dribbling involve kicking the ball ahead and sprinting after it.  How can you effectively kick a ball ahead of you if you don’t know correct technique for kicking a ball?  It seems simple, but the reality is a significant percentage of youth players are unable to properly kick or pass a soccer ball.

In addition to Dribbling, nearly all of the foundational 1st Touch moves will benefit from mastery of the Inside Foot Ground Pass/Kick.  Proper technique for receiving a soccer ball is very similar to proper technique for kicking a ball.  If you are able to strike a ball correctly using the Inside Foot you will quickly be able to learn the primary 1st Touch techniques utilizing the Inside Foot.

Finally, the Inside Foot Ground Pass/Kick must be mastered is because passing is a small part of the game at this age.  Passing shouldn’t be overemphasized at this age, but is a part of the game.

As you grow older, the Inside Foot Ground Pass/Kick will eventually become the most utilized and necessary technique for team success.  Proper technique should be learned at the youngest age possible and practiced regularly to stay ahead of the curve.
